Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I need to improve the collagen levels in my skin?

From about the age of 20 onwards, we lose between 1-1.5% of the collagen in our skin each year. From the age of 30 our collagen production is significantly reduced. Collagen loss results in wrinkles, fine lines and dry, blemished or thinning skin.

Doesn’t the body produce its own collagen?

Yes, but as we age, the cells that promote collagen production in the skin decrease and slow down, and our skin consequently starts to develop fine lines and wrinkles. skinade contains collagen peptides that trigger the body’s own natural process of collagen formation by stimulating fibroblasts, thus encouraging the body to produce more of its own collagen.

should I still use face creams if I take skinade™?

Skinade™ works synergistically with face creams and salon treatments to keep your skin in optimum condition. Using a broad-spectrum face cream with a high SPF to protect your skin from the sun’s UVA and UVB rays is particularly important, as is not smoking and reducing sugar consumption, both of which are implicated in the ageing of skin.

Why not just take collagen tablets?

To consume the same level of collagen in tablet form you would have to take 20 large tablets. Collagen tablets are more difficult to take and are only partially absorbed by the body. It is also important to understand that all the ingredients in skinade work synergistically providing the optimal formulation for improved skin health.

The liquid formula in skinade offers a huge advantage in terms of absorption rates. skinade functions isotonically ensuring that our collagen peptides and essential micro-nutrients achieve an absorption rate of 90-95%, a level that can never be matched by tablets, or powders suspended in solution.

Are the 7000 mg of collagen in skinade enough?

Some products contain more collagen. skinade uses 7000mg of class leading patented collagen peptides type I and III with an unsurpassed molecular weight of just 2kDal. Fibroblast proliferation (stimulation of the cells responsible for collagen production) occurs at around 6000mg. skinade is unique as it is 100% in solution which ensures 90% to 95% absorption. This level of bioavailability can never be matched by tablets or powders suspended in liquid. Fibroblast proliferation either occurs or it does not and increasing collagen levels beyond 7000mg does not increase efficacy. It is important to note that collagen peptides are only able to function when combined with appropriate levels of calcium ascorbate (PH neutral vitamin C) we include 450% RDA in every bottle.

How frequently should i take skinade?

Take one 150 ml bottle or 15 ml sachet of skinade a day, ideally before or after breakfast. Please note that you should avoid drinking caffeine within an hour of drinking skinade as this will compromise the uptake of vitamin C, crucial for the absorption of the collagen. This will affect the efficacy of the product.

I am young and don’t have any wrinkles or skin conditions. Can I still benefit from taking skinade?

From about the age of 20 onwards we lose between 1.5% of the collagen in our skin each year. Collagen loss results in wrinkles, fine lines and dry, blemished or thinning skin. Drinking collagen from a young age before wrinkles form will help you maintain your youthful appearance.

Why does skinade not contain hyaluronic acid (hla)?

HLA taken orally is denatured by digestion and there is no scientific evidence that any HLA reaches the skin. However, when you ingest the high quality collagen peptides contained in skinade your body naturally produces hyaluronic acid in the dermis. This is where HLA is most needed.

Where does the collagen in skinade come from?

skinade contains marine collagen sourced only from the skin of freshwater fish. It is supplied by a respected European manufacturer and is certified fit for human consumption.

What is the difference between marine sourced collagen and other sources of collagen?

Collagen can come from a number of different sources, mainly animal. The collagen in skinade is sourced from freshwater fish as this avoids possibility of mercury and PCN contamination as well as high levels of sodium more common in saltwater fish. Hydrolyzed marine collagen proteins are also known to be abundant...the same type that is found in the skin, the target organ.

What does “hydrolyzed” mean?

The marine collagen in skinade has been hydrolyzed, which means that it has been through a gentle, enzymatic process that breaks down the larger collagen molecules into collagen peptides. These peptides have a much lower molecular weight and can be easily transported to and absorbed in areas where the skin needs it. Taking hydrolyzed collagen in liquid form increases absorption significantly.

What makes skinade different from other collagen drinks?

skinade is not a collagen drink, it is a skincare drink which contains collagen and a unique blend of micronutrients providing a perfect ratio of active ingredients to liquid. These work synergistically to create the most advanced, effective and bio-available anti-ageing skincare product on the market today.

Who should take skinade?

skinade is suitable for anyone over the age of 18 who wants their skin to retain its youthful, healthy appearance.

What does skinade taste of?

skinade contains the all-natural flavors of peach and mangosteen to make it a pleasant tasting drink.

How should I store skinade?

skinade does not have to be stored in the fridge, as it is shelf stable, but many people prefer to drink the bottle every morning chilled from the fridge or add the sachet to chilled water. Shake the bottle or stir in the sachet contents before drinking.

Should I buy the skinade bottle or skinade travel sachet?

This depends entirely on your preferences. The two products are equally effective. The sachet version (skinade travel) was developed to be carried in hand luggage on a plane. Just add the sachet contents to half a glass of water each day.

Does skinade contain gluten, dairy, lactose, bovine or porcine products, hormones, genetically modified organisms (gmos), artificial flavors or artificial colors?

skinade is free of all these ingredients and additives.

Is skinade suitable for vegetarians?

skinade contains collagen sourced from freshwater fish.

Is skinade suitable for diabetics?

Yes. skinade contains only 2kcal of sugar (sourced from natural grape juice) and 0.02g of sucralose. However, if you have any concerns, we recommend to always check with your doctor.

What will happen if I stop taking skinade?

Individual results will vary but if you stop taking skinade for a short period (say a weekend), results will be maintained. However, if you stop completely you will slowly lose the benefits you have gained.

How many calories does skinade contain?

Each 150ml (5 FL OZ) bottle of skinade and each 15ml (0.5 FL OZ) sachet of skinade travel contains less than 35 calories. Fewer than 2 of these calories come from the natural sugar of grape juice. This is important because, after sunlight and smoking, sugar is the skin’s worst enemy, as it causes glycation (crystallization of the collagen matrix, making it brittle, causing lines and wrinkles).

Will skinade only help the skin on my face?

Your skin is the largest organ in your body, and collagen is a critical part of the structure of the dermis and gives your skin its youthful appearance. skinade will benefit the skin on all parts of your body.

Is skinade suitable for me?

skinade is suitable for men and women over the age of 18, however, we recommend you seek professional medical advice if you:

  • - are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • - suffer from food allergies
  • - have any underlying medical conditions or are taking medication

I am currently on medication for a skin condition. Will it be a problem taking skinade?

It is unlikely that skinade will conflict with your medication; however we recommend that you check with your doctor before taking skinade.

What happens if a child accidentally consumes skinade?

If a child consumes skinade there is no danger to the child’s health, as it contains no harmful ingredients. However, the formula has been designed for adult use and should be treated like any adult supplement.

Can I get a rash?

No, however clients with a sensitivity to Vitamin B may experience a rare, short-term flush. This is not an allergic reaction: vitamin B increases the blood flow through the fine capillaries, delivering nutrients to areas of poor circulation.

Any other side effects?

You may experience a mild laxative detox effect when you start to take skinade.
